About Bath & North East Somerset Council
What springs to mind when you think of Bath? Most likely Jane Austen, gorgeous architecture, and spa waters.
Bath’s digital prowess is a less well known, but equally important, part of Bath’s story – and a critical part of its future. The Bath area is home to a thriving ecosystem of technologists, engineers and creative thinkers who are busy inventing fantastic solutions to tomorrow’s problems.
We’re working hard to create an environment where individuals and businesses have the profile, support and space to keep doing what they do best. The Newark Works development at Bath Quays South has been designed with growing digital and creative companies in mind. A superfast wireless network for the city is being unveiled. The Council also funds free business advice for local companies and helps to promote sector network activities.
The Bath Digital Festival is a great way to celebrate the phenomenal work that usually happens quietly, behind the scenes. The festival will help fledgling entrepreneurs learn from industry leaders, and inspire future generations to take up the digital mantle. So we’re very proud to sponsor the festival this year.
Cllr Paul Myers, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “We’re proud to support the Bath Digital Festival as it shows off a very different side to this wonderful city. It helps us to proclaim the growth in digital activity and innovation that’s happening here. This year’s festival has a fantastic range of events but we’re particularly excited about those events helping young people explore the incredible opportunities that the world of technology offers.”
