About this event
The use of virtual reality technology is still sparse in most mainstream care environments, though there are some exceptions, most treatments that utilise VR have yet to catch on. That being said, there have been a number of research papers dedicated to understanding their impacts over the last decade. My question going in to my dissertation was “What’s holding us back from implementing VR treatments more widely?”. A year on I believe I understand part of the problem, and perhaps more importantly, I hope that I have part of the solution as well.
Many of the issues discussed in this talk are particularly relevant for the holistic care and support of the elderly, with implications for both individuals and care communities. As such, research discussed in the talk is focused mainly on older participants and the impact that these technologies can have on their lives.
