About this event
Visit Bath and Mesmerix are working together to develop a demo of an interactive Augmented Reality (AR) tour of the city of Bath. The idea of the project is to showcase how current AR technology used through a smartphone can add a degree of flexibility, entertainment, and excitement to existing tours of the city, whilst demonstrating Bath’s mix of historic charm and vibrant contemporary culture.
The project aims to develop a series of interactive Augmented Reality (AR) apps which can be downloaded by any visitor coming to Bath. Whether it’s learning about Jane Austen’s Bath or walking in the footsteps of the Romans, different tours can be tailored to different interests, areas and seasons. Users will be able to explore Bath’s heritage against the backdrop of the contemporary city, highlighting its many sides. AR will allow tourists to step back in time and fully immerse themselves in the city’s past with animated characters, audio, AR windows, AR portals, videos and text to engage with. Unlike traditional tours, users have the flexibility to plan a tour to suit their own preferences and follow it at their own pace whilst having fun along the way.
If you’re interested in Augmented Reality and Tourism or just curious about the AR experience and how it works, this is the event for you.
