About this event
The Wiltshire Digital Drive (WDD) was born from a desire to recycle donated laptops to gift back to the community, enabling education and connectivity in Wiltshire and bridging the digital divide. It began in March 2020 when a call for help was posted on social media by a school asking for a laptop to help support those isolating and homeschooling. During the past 18 months, over 2,500 laptops have been donated and more than 900 have been loaned out to schools, charities and voluntary groups – 1 in 5 schools in Wiltshire have received laptops from WDD.
This talk will focus on the journey of the WDD so far, gaining momentum by receiving national and local news coverage, the generosity of businesses and the community to come together to support those in need, and how the digital divide is still very much in Wiltshire and our vision for the future.
