About this event
Girlguiding, the UK’s largest charity for girls and young women, has partnered with GCHQ, the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and CyberFirst to encourage more girls and young women to learn about computer systems and cyber security.
Girlguiding South West England, GCHQ, NCSC and CyberFirst have developed a new exciting challenge called SWEBots On the Net. The challenge enable girls to learn about cryptography, code breaking, passwords and the internet of things through a series of games, crafts and activities. And of course, every girl completing the challenge will be rewarded with a special badge!
Girlguiding’s Girls’ Attitudes Survey 2017 found 30% of girls aged 11-16 think ICT/computing is more for boys and only 37% would consider doing a job in technology. In 2019, we found that 47% of girls aged 11-21 worry about their privacy settings online. Girlguiding Bath will be leading this workshop at Bath Digital Festival to help challenge these attitudes and encourage girls to pursue careers in IT.
This is will be a fully interactive workshop for girls aged 11-18.
You do not have to be a member of Girlguiding to take part - all girls are welcome!
